Petie is a little boy who loves fun, friendship, mischief, animals and adventure.

His biggest quality is his kindness.

He has wonderful adventures and is always positive and this the first book telling the stories around building of his den in the woodland.

It is the school summer holidays, and he is busy with all the wild animals, caring for them and talking to them, along with creating a bit of mischief, building a boat and helping to fix, or so he thinks the sliding roof on the family old car.

Petie is a collection of short stories that has been told for three generations in my family but never put to paper. Children are treasured, and they are the future of the world, taking time to read and tell stories will stay with them for life.

About the Author - Sarah Hammond

Sarah has always loved a good story. Long before she became a grandmother, she was making up tales to entertain her younger siblings, their friends, then her own children and now, her grandchildren are lucky enough to be part of the audience!

For many years, Sarah was at the heart of creating some of the country’s most glamorous and memorable events. As a director of renowned event caterer and restaurant operator Rhubarb, she helped bring spectacular celebrations to life, from grand occasions and fabulous parties to beautifully memorable gatherings. She loved the excitement, the creativity, the logistical challenges and, most of all, making memories.

Now she has swapped the world of fabulous parties for characters, adventures, and a little bit of mischief.

Her first children’s book brings one of the stories she has treasured and shared for years to life, a story that has been passed down through her family and is now ready to be enjoyed by a whole new generation.

Sarah and her husband, Chris, are at their happiest when surrounded by family, friends, laughter, yummy food and, of course, a good story. Sarah and Chris are delighted to be supporting Home-Start Guildford, generously donating their time and all proceeds from the book to help local Home-Start Guildford support local families.

About the Illustrator – Peter McNiven

Peter is a professional artist who has exhibited in major galleries and exhibitions on London and throughout the UK. He has work in the Imperial War Museum and Royal Collection at Windsor. He has previously illustrated a number of books for children.

When Sarah asked Peter to help bring her story to life, he simply couldn’t resist! His wonderful illustrations capture the spirit and character of Petie, transforming Sarah’s much-loved stories into a magical world for children to enjoy.

Like Sarah, Peter has generously given his time and talent to enhance the beautiful story book about The Adventures of Petie.
